Dear Teams,

The new season is upon us and there is a new order of competition and a renewed priority to register. This year there will no longer be divisions but rather all USPSA teams will be divided into conferences. The objective is to develop a means to maintain the integrity of competition while adjusting for future growth of the sport. While every effort has been made to anticipate a variety of situations and questions, as with anything that is new, we will work to deal with any unintended consequences and unforeseen issues as quickly and equitably as possible.

There will be a 12 game requirement to qualify for your Conference Cup Championship Tournament at the end of the season. This is why it is important to get registered and playing games as early as possible to meet the new required number of games.

This year for the first time, you will be able to make a choice to compete or not. You may opt out of competition at the time of registration. You can still play games however you will not be involved in a Conference Cup Championship at the end of the season.

There is also a 2 game requirement within your conference. So of the twelve games, at least two must be against another team...

CDC CONCURS WITH MDA'S DECISION TO CANCEL SUMMER CAMPS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, GIVES USPSA CAUSE FOR CONCERN...

Carmel, IN - July 2, 2009

As a result of the cancellation of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) camps this summer, the USPSA has assessed and evaluated the risk of holding the power soccer camp at Camp Courage in August. Upon our investigation, the CDC (Center for Disease Control), has agreed with MDA's decision to cancel their camps as a result of H1N1 (swine flu) virus. A number of campers who attended MDA camps at the beginning of the summer contracted the virus. Many of our members/athletes are in a high risk category and susceptible to serious dangers if exposed to the virus.

At this point in time, the USPSA will follow the CDC prudent direction and recommendation as it relates to power soccer camp at Camp Courage. Camp Courage is not the source of concern and has received a clean bill of health but the bringing together of "at risk" persons in close proximity for the camp is what lends itself to force us to pause. Camps have continued at Camp Courage thus far and the power soccer camp is still scheduled, should you choose to attend.

This is clearly a family...

Dear Member Teams,

As you may have seen, the team announcement for the 2009 USPSA National Tournament has been released. The selection of teams from Division 1 and Division 2 was based on the top three finishing teams in their regional. The tenth team for each division and waiting list teams were selected based on teams who competed in their regional tournament and their overall record including regionals.

The Tournament Selection and Executive Committees worked hard to make the selections fair and based on a defendable rationale. It is recognized there are a number of way to approach qualifications for this championship. The TSC and EC will continue to work on developing a system to identify the top teams and to announce the complete process prior to the regional tournaments in the future.

We will also need to further the discussion of our approach to competition. Our current two-division system, which has little crossover play, is becoming inadequate and inequitable. This system is unsustainable for the future as we continue to grow.

The Tournament Selection Committee or Athletes Advisory Committee are the committees to join if you are interested in assisting in the process for the 2009-2010 season. The AAC is in the process of...

Mr. Dominic Russo
President, USPSA
P.O. Box 1181
Carmel, IN 46032

Dear Dominic,

The purpose of this letter is to confirm that the United States Power Soccer Association ("USPSA") is a member in good standing with U.S. Soccer Federation, and also to confirm support of the U.S. Soccer referee department for your efforts to solicit and train referees for USPSA's programs.

We understand that USPSA is currently attempting to recruit new referees to officiate power soccer games, including some referees currently registered with U.S. Soccer. U.S. Soccer strongly supports your efforts, and would encourage referees to consider this opportunity. To the extent any USSF referee has questions about the impact of participation with USPSA on their status with USSF, they should be assured that officiating USPSA games will have no adverse impract on their registration with USSF.

If there are specific referees or other administrators who have any concerns about this issue, please feel free to tell them to call me. My direct line is 312-528-1237. You should also feel free to share this letter with them.

Please let us know if you need anything further.

Sincerely,

Paul Tamberino

To: Power Soccer Athletes

I would like each athlete applying for the USA National Power Soccer Team to submit video footage in DVD format of your play this year. I would like specific footage of 1) 10-20 minutes of you playing with your team preferably in a regional or local competition, and of 2) you doing the following drills listed below. Providing this video footage will help me make a more informed selection based on your abilities especially for those applicants who I may not be familiar with. I am sending this request out now to give you ample time to practice and videotape the drills and potentially videotape your team playing at a regional tournament. When videotaping team play use a wide camera shot to catch all of the offensive and defensive team play, not just you as an individual. I would prefer one 10-20 minute video segment, but if for any reason you are unable to produce this please include 2-4 segments no shorter than five minutes each. Please complete the following drills 5 times. I am looking for accuracy and controlled power on your kicks. When videotaping please do not edit the video and complete all five repetitions of each drill in a row before moving on to the next drill.

Drills:
